The dot SE country-specific top-level domain name extension was established in 1986 and assigned to Sweden. During the first years after its establishment, the registration procedure was quite restrictive, so a very limited number of domains were purchased. Persons were allowed to acquire solely one domain under .PP.SE (“pp” stands for “private person”). Local presence was mandatory, i.e. merely Swedish persons, business entities and organizations were able to obtain a dot SE domain.
