Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, that is employed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an e-mail message is sent from one email address, but to seem as being sent from a different, often with the purpose to scam the recipient someway. When SPF protection is enabled for a domain, a special record is generated for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world have it. The record includes all e-mail servers that are permitted to send legitimate messages from an e-mail address part of the domain. When a message is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and in case its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the target destination. If, however, the sending server is not contained in the SPF record for the given domain, the email message won't be forwarded and it'll be removed. When you employ this solution, it'll stop third parties from sending spam messages which seem to have been sent by you.
SPF Protection in Cloud Web Hosting
When you host your domain names in a cloud web hosting account with us and we handle the email addresses for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in its own section where you are able to see which domains are currently protected. For the ones which aren't, you can activate the SPF protection service and set up a lot of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, and to set a rule that emails can be sent only when your domains use our MX records. The last option is the most secure one, and it can be used if we manage the email addresses for your domains and you are not using another email service provider. The newly generated records will be activated within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in a message with your addresses.
SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
The SPF protection function is provided with all semi-dedicated service, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you will be able to use the service easily for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes as standard with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a very intuitive interface, which means that you do not have to be tech-savvy in order to secure your email addresses. You'll simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you have chosen. As an extra option, we'll also allow you to limit your outgoing email messages and protect your mailboxes even further by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain involved includes our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain should be managed here and not by a different supplier. In this way you will have even superior control and there will not be a chance for someone to forge your e-mails for malicious activities.
